Established in 1964, HACC is proud to be the first community college in Pennsylvania. A thriving community college, HACC serves more than 14,000 students across four campuses in Harrisburg, Lancaster, Gettysburg, and Lebanon, and an additional location in York.
HACC is a fully accredited institution offering two-year program of studies leading to a career or transfer to a four-year institution. HACC offers more than 120 different certificate, diploma and associate degree options. Its open enrollment policy ensures that any student with a high school diploma or GED can enroll in classes. With more than 40 formal transfer agreements with four-year schools and a reputation for excellence, HACC graduates are assured that credits they earn here will be accepted at major colleges and universities throughout the United States. Best of all, HACC is one of the most affordable choices in education today. Academic Programs HACC offers more than 120 different certificate, diploma, and associate degree options. English as a Second Language (ESL) Programs The College offers concentrated instruction in English, through the English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The ESL Program presents the sound system, structure, and vocabulary of American English in culturally relevant contexts focusing on listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
All international students will take an ESL placement test unless they submit TOEFL scores. Students need to score at least 213 on the computer-based test, 550 paper-based test, or 79 on the internet based test to be exempt from ESL classes. After placement testing, a student enters one of four sequential courses college homework help based upon his or her ability in English. The program gives students 15 academic hours a week of English language instruction and works on eight-week cycles, enabling students to complete two levels per semester. Transfer Opportunities Many of our students complete associates degrees and then transfer to a four-year college or university. Information is available about special agreements with area colleges that allow for ease of transfer of your credits through Articulation Agreements and Transfer Agreements. Information on many four year institutions is also available in the Transfer Center's College and University Library.
